What is REACH?

The word “REACH” stands for Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals. 

REACH is the European law on chemicals. The REACH Regulation was published under no. 1907/2006 in the Official Journal of the European Union no. L 396 on 30 December 2006 and superseded various existing regulations.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is responsible for ensuring that the REACH Regulation is enforced.

As a supplier, Renfert is defined as a “downstream user” in the REACH Regulation. In this capacity Renfert is not subject to a duty of registration as a general principle. In order to safeguard our own interests and to guarantee high product safety, however, we seek to ensure compliance with REACH and the requirements ensuing from the Regulation.

What are SVHC?

The abbreviation “SVHC” stands for Substances of Very High Concern.

Some substances in products require separate declaration within the supply chain under article 33 of the REACH Regulation. These substances are published on what is referred to as the Candidate List.

Ever since the first Candidate List was published, we have been in contact with our suppliers to check on the use of these substances in our products. The use of these substances is not in breach of the applicable legislation. In order to pre-empt potential prohibitions in the future, however, we are already taking steps to replace these substances - where technically possible. Renfert products can be classified as "mixtures" (e.g. wax, cleaning agents, polish, superglue) or "products" (machines and instruments).
